The team at Acorn Finance were delighted to have the opportunity to see and hold the Queen’s Baton yesterday as part of the relay tour for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The Relay began at Buckingham Palace on Commonwealth Day, 13 March 2017, when Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II placed her message to the Commonwealth into the GC2018 Baton. From its London starting point, the Queen’s Baton has travelled sequentially through Africa, the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and Oceania, spending between two and four days in each Commonwealth nation and territory. This will give a third of the world’s population the opportunity to share a memorable experience with the Baton. On an ambitious journey to connect with a modern and diverse Commonwealth, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) will achieve two records – it will be the longest and the most accessible relay in Commonwealth history.
The Acorn team were given the opportunity to pose with the baton for photographs and learn more from the Queen’s Baton Relay Team about the history of the baton and more about the upcoming Games. Members of the Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey team were also on hand to give us an update on the Acorn Performance Pathway sponsored #TeamJersey athlete progress and preparation for the Gold Coast. Thank you to Morag Obarska & Paul du Feu of the Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey for helping to organise the visit to our office.
We are proud to be supporting #TeamJersey on their journey to the #CG2018.
